Frequently Asked Questions

What can a patient expect after a total joint replacement?
Each patient progresses at a different rate. Depending on the recovery rate, some patients may be able to go home while others may need to stay a while longer for additional therapy.

Are parents allowed to stay with pediatric patients?
Parents are more than welcome to stay with their children 24 hours a day. If the parents must leave, our caring nurses and nurse aides stand in to ensure that the child is well taken care of and comfortable.

What are the post-surgical instructions for neurosurgery?
These instructions vary widely by procedure. For example, if a patient had a neck procedure done, they may need to wear a neck brace for a period of time.

What method of pain control is used for post-operative neurosurgical and orthopedic patients?
Patients may be provided with a pain pump that allows individual control of their pain medication. An orthopedic patient who has a total knee replacement may be provided with a pain pump that delivers medication directly to the knee.
