Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Signs Letter of Intent to Explore Affiliation Opportunities with the Pennsylvania Mountains Care Network

Indiana Regional Medical Center, Punxsutawney Area Hospital Already Affiliated

KITTANNING, PA, INDIANA, PA, and PUNXSUTAWNEY, PA, October 25, 2023 – Armstrong County Memorial Hospital (ACMH) Board of Directors have signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to explore affiliation opportunities with the Pennsylvania Mountains Care Network (PMCN) that currently includes Indiana Regional Medical Center (IRMC) and Punxsutawney Area Hospital (PAH).

The potential affiliation aims to preserve, enhance and provide quality of healthcare for patients throughout the rural counties in each service area in an increasingly challenging health care marketplace. PMCN’s goals include creating long-term valuable efficiencies, synergies of scale and sustainability for hospitals that are already operating with a high level of quality care and effective local management. ACMH and PMCN will study opportunities for this affiliation through the end of 2023 to determine final intentions.

As a part of this special network, each hospital retains its local identity and operates as separate non-profit organizations and as separately licensed community hospitals. Importantly, the collaboration between hospitals in this network will benefit from clinical, technological, and administrative resources with a common mission to combine shared values and resources under one larger organization.

Formed in 2015, the Pennsylvania Mountains Care Network oversees its rural hospital affiliates with an integrated executive management team that represents the common interests of the various communities served by each of these well-established hospitals that are so integral to each community.
