Bert Hepner, DO is the founding member of Armstrong Orthopedic Associates. He formed the practice in August of 2002 after completion of his residency. Dr. Hepner was born and raised in the Kittanning area. He graduated from Kittanning Senior High School and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he graduated with honors. Dr. Hepner then attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating near the top of his class. Following graduation of medical school, Dr. Hepner did a traditional rotating internship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Shenango Valley. Following this, he then attended Ohio University St. Joseph's Health Center, Warren, Ohio, for his orthopedic surgical residency.
Over the past 15 years, Dr. Hepner has been in practice providing general orthopedic care to the Armstrong County community with an emphasis on hip and knee reconstruction. During this period of time, he has also been involved with local athletic programs, providing support to the teams over the past 15 years. Bert Hepner, DO is designated as a UPMC Health Plan Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Surgery Center of Excellence surgeon at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital based on his commitment to quality care and outstanding patient experience.
Dr. Hepner received board certification on March 3, 2007, and was recertified in 2017. He practices general orthopedics, sports medicine, performs arthroscopic procedures to the shoulder and knee, does hip and knee reconstruction, and hand surgery. Patients are cared for using the most current operative and nonoperative treatment. Only after exhaustion of nonoperative treatment does he consider operative intervention.
